It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jimmy) Lanza, Retired from Ladder 43. Jimmy was appointed to the FDNY on 01/13/1979 and while he started his career at Engine 14, he spent most of his career with Engine 53 and Ladder 43, El Barrio’s Bravest in Harlem.

After his retirement, Jimmy remained involved in many organizations, and on the Executive Board of the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation. He would almost never be missing from an event, volunteering countless numbers of hours to help out. Jimmy was a great friend and will be truly missed by the brotherhood. We love you Jimmy, rest in peace, until we meet again.
